This is the second year in a row, that Arizona Governor Jan Brewer vetoed state legislation, that would have allowed concealed carry in public buildings. The bill would have allowed public buildings to be exempt, provided they have security or police, as well as metal detectors and the like, at the doors.
One stated concern has been the expense for the cost of added security presumably because people should not be armed in such places. Opponents say it’s prohibitively expensive, because of the lack of security that public buildings face, even now? Because somehow people with bad intentions are magically kept out.
