BATFE Director Kenneth Melson, secretly testified about Gunwalker, on July 4, without the knowledge of the Department of Justice. He gave damning testimony. Not surprisingly it looks like the DOJ did in fact obstruct the investigation into Fast and Furious.
Melson was not allowed to communicate with Congress by the DOJ. There were possibly paid FBI and DEA informants involved in Gunwalker using tax payer dollars. Deputy Attorney General James Cole looks to have been obstructing the investigation. You can bet that other high level DOJ personnel are most likely involved.
It appears that Melson claims he didn’t know the “full story” about Fast and Furious until after it became public, but according to the previous testimony, he knew and was systematically briefed of the operation. That would be considered lying.
Grassley and Issa wrote: “The evidence we have gathered raises the disturbing possibility that the Justice Department not only allowed criminals to smuggle weapons but that taxpayer dollars from other agencies may have financed those engaging in such activities.”
How do you like this for a “transparent government”?
